Here are the first practice dates and locations for the MCM Spring Sports.

McCook Central/Montrose is looking for an individual to serve as a Throwing Guide for a junior high athlete in Track & Field. This is a paid position. The individual(s) would need to attend practices and all meets to assist a thrower with a visual impairment by verbally guiding them during throwing events.
Here are a few details to consider:
Availability starting in mid-March when the JH Track & Field season begins through the end of the season in mid-May.
Once we start attending meets, the Throwing Guide will need to attend all meets and at least one practice per week.

Just a reminder that McCook Central School District's Spring Break will start with an early dismissal on Wednesday, March 11th, at 1 pm; there will be no after-school care on this day. No school on Thursday, March 12th & Friday, March 13th. Classes will resume on Monday, March 16th. Have a great Spring Break!
The MCM Boys Basketball team will be playing against Clark/Willow Lake in the SoDak 16 on Tuesday, March 10. The game will be played at Watertown High School with tip-off scheduled for approximately 8:00pm as the second game of a doubleheader following the Aberdeen Christian vs SF Lutheran game, which starts at 6:00pm. Congratulations to all of our MCM Wrestlers at State! Placing was: Parker Randall – 6th, Easton Meyer – 7th, and Alexis Bryant – STATE CHAMPION for the third consecutive year!
The MCM Girls Basketball team will be playing against Mahpíya Lúta in the SoDak 16 on Thursday, March 5. The game will be played at Todd County High School in Mission, SD with tip-off scheduled for 6:00pm CT. Good luck!

The MCM Girls Basketball team advanced to the 2nd Round of the Region 5A Tournament and will play on Thursday, February 26 in Salem, against Hanson, with tip-off at 7:00pm. The winner advances to the SoDak 16. Good luck Fighting Cougars!
The MCM State Wrestling Send-Off will be at 1:00pm Wednesday in the Montrose Gym. All are welcome to attend.

Since this is a postseason event, it is officially an SDHSAA contest and we are serving as the host site. Admission for Region post-season games will be $6 for all adults, including senior citizens, and $4 for students. Please note that MCM activity passes will not be accepted.

Region 2B Boys WR Tourney results - Congrats to Parker Randall at 126 (Champion), Tucker Peterson at 165 (Runner-up), Easton Meyer at 215 (3rd), Caleb Hoffman at 106 (4th), Channing Bartlett at 120 (4th), Levi Horstman at 150 (4th), and Jacob Johnson at 285 (4th) - all qualifying for the State Wrestling Tournament next weekend in Sioux Falls on Feb 26–28.
Also competing today for MCM: Wyatt Uberty at 138 (6th) and Richard Sandine at 132.

Congrats to Alexis Bryant for winning the Region 2 WR title and Ellie Stofferahn for finishing runner-up. They both have now qualified for the State Girls WR Tournament in Sioux Falls on Feb. 26th - 28th.
The McCook Central FFA Chapter will be hosting their Annual Pancake Feed THIS SUNDAY (2/22) to kickoff National FFA Week! They will be serving from 9 am until 2 pm in the McCook Central APR. All proceeds will be going to Sutton Murphy, an Alington FFA member, who suffered a neck injury during a wrestling tournament. Please use the elementary or library door

Just a reminder that McCook Central will have an early dismissal at 1:00 pm on Thursday, February 12th, for Parent-Teacher Conferences; there will be no after-school care on this day. Our conferences will run from 1:30 pm to 8:30 pm. There is no school on Friday, February 13th, or Monday, February 16th, for Presidents' Day. We hope to see everyone at the Conferences!
