Congratulations, Cougars!
Your teacher noticed you showing the Cougar Way last week! You have been making great choices, being kind and respectful, working hard, helping others, and showing what it means to be a positive member of our school family.
Your teacher is so proud of you—and we want your family to know about it, too! That’s why a Good News Postcard was sent to your home in the mail!
Keep up the great work and keep showing everyone what it means to BE A COUGAR PROUD!

At McCook Central, we are proud to continue our schoolwide PBIS efforts by recognizing and celebrating students who demonstrate positive behaviors each day. Throughout September, elementary students will earn Cougar Rewards for following the Cougar Way: Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Ready, and Be Safe. Each elementary class will work together to “gain yards” down the football field by earning Cougar Rewards. Once a class makes its way across the field, they will earn a classroom celebration! Through our PBIS program, we are excited to encourage positive choices, celebrate student success, and continue building a positive school community—one yard at a time!🐾🏈

Happy Friday! We had a great week, and students are getting into the swing of things. As we look forward to this evening's football game, I want to thank our crowd from last week's game. Beyond the support you showed our team in a hard-fought battle, you showed great respect & responsibility by picking up our bleachers. That was the cleanest I've seen after a game, and I cannot thank you enough, on behalf of our staff, for the cleanup after the event. Your efforts to pick up trash after the game help immensely. Thank you for your support. Go MCM!

First Day Expectations

Rooted in Community. Focused on Excellence.

As we begin the 2026-2027 school year, I would like to extend a warm welcome to our students, families, staff, and community members.

As I reflect on the year ahead, the phrase "Rooted in Community. Focused on Excellence." captures what I hope will continue to define McCook Central. Our district has always been strengthened by the support of our families, businesses, and community members, and that partnership allows us to provide exceptional opportunities for every student. At the same time, we remain committed to challenging ourselves to provide the very best educational experience possible for every child.

The start of a new school year brings fresh opportunities for learning, growth, and success, and we are excited to begin another great year together. We are fortunate to welcome back nearly our entire staff from last year while also adding one outstanding new team member, Megan Stiefvater, who joins us as our Agriculture instructor. We are confident she will be a wonderful addition to our school community.

This year marks the beginning of my seventh year serving as superintendent of McCook Central. It continues to be an honor to work alongside such dedicated educators, supportive families, and an outstanding Board of Education. Together, we remain committed to providing every student with a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment where they are challenged to grow academically, develop strong character, and prepare for a successful future.

If you have any questions or need assistance throughout the year, please don't hesitate to contact our school.

Thank you for your continued support of McCook Central Schools. I look forward to another outstanding year of learning, achievement, and growth.
